Historic Trolley Tours

Saturday morning tour: Your tour leader will be Dr. Duane Smith, local historian and Professor of History at Fort Lewis College. Dr. Smith will portray David Day, early Durango newspaperman whose irrascible writing style caused him to have to carry a gun for protection from some of his readers!

Saturday afternoon tour: Your tour leader will be Ann Butler, long time reporter for the Durango Herald and a nearly life-long resident of Durango. Ann will portray Carolyn Romney, Durango's first newpaperwoman.

For both tours, meet at least 15 minutes prior to the tour in front of the historic Strater Hotel. You will board The Durango Trolley, which will take you to the various historic locations on the tour. First come first served for limited trolley space. No charge for tour, donations to the Heritage Celebration gratefully accepted.

When: Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, 11am - 12:00pm & 3:30pm - 4:30pm.
Where: Tours leave from the front of the historic Strater Hotel.
Price: No charge.
