Grand Victorian Ball: "Winter Fantasy"

Our 2012 Ball will again be held at the La Plata County Senior Center, located at 2424 Main Avenue. The feedback our steering committee has received has indicated that it was a good venue and the floor was wonderful for dancing!  We realize that we need to provide better cooling, since we all know these dances are lively and 80-some bodies can definitely create their own heat.  We choose the theme above to help put dancers in the mood for a cooler evening !  Sumptuous hot and cold hors d'ouevres -- sufficient for dinner -- will be served during intermission, along with soft drinks throughout the evening. No alcohol is permitted, so if you'd like a bit of libation to loosen you up for dancing, remember the Historic Strater Hotel is offering Happy Hour drinks prior to the ball.

As in years past, Sharon Guli of River Crossing, Inc. (aka Miss Tabitha) will be doing an excellent job of prompting the ball, so everyone is sure to feel confident and enjoy each dance. The Grandview Victorian Orchestra will again provide the music for the evening, as they have each year. If you have never attended a Victorian Ball, you have a wonderful experience awaiting you! This year's ball has the theme of "Winter Fantasy" as an early invitation to one of Colorado's spectacular winters.  This theme should allow everyone to wear his/her favorite Victorian or Edwardian evening wear, or military uniforms, if the gents prefer.  While this type of attire is not required, it is definitely encouraged.  Otherwise, modern suits and ladies' evening attire is acceptable.   Don't forget your gloves! Event Details and Booking:

When: Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012. Doors open at 6:00pm, Grand March begins at 6:30pm. Ball ends at 10pm.
Where: La Plata County Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave., Durango, CO.
Price: $40.00 per person.
Tickets: Reservation request and check payment must be received no later than Monday, October 8, 2012. Reservations are subject to limited availability. Dance cards will be provided on entry.  Please book early in order to ensure your reservations for 2012.  Last year's ball sold out early!
