Grand Victorian Ball: "Her Majesty's Ball"  ONE Ticket Remaining!

232px-Queen Victoria Golden JubileeQueen Victoria has come out of her lengthy period of mourning, following the death of her beloved husband Prince Albert, to celebrate her Golden Jubilee, which corresponds in the year of 1887 with the visit to England of Buffalo Bill and his Wild West Show.  For our event, the Queen is holding this ball in honor of Mr. Cody and his entourage (the ball part isn't based on an actual historic happening, but seems like a good idea!).

Sumptuous hot and cold hors d'ouevres -- sufficient for dinner -- will be served during intermission, along with soft drinks throughout the evening.

As in years past, Sharon Guli of River Crossing, Inc. (aka Miss Tabitha) will be doing an excellent job of prompting the ball, so everyone is sure to feel confident and enjoy each dance. The Grandview Victorian Orchestra will again provide the music for the evening, as they have each year. If you have never attended a Victorian Ball, you have a wonderful experience awaiting you! The dances are fun and Miss Tabitha will guide all of us through each one. Enjoy this fun article and learn a little about Victorian dance etiquette back in the day.

This year's theme should allow everyone to wear his/her favorite Victorian or Edwardian evening wear, or military uniforms, if the gents prefer.  Also, if you would like to represent one of the Wild West Show's participants, you might consider very nice, authentic Old West attire (NOT modern Western clothing -- no jeans, etc. or saloon girl attire).  Please be careful with this, however, since we want to keep with the elegance of a Victorian Ball.  This is, after all, the Queen's ball.  While historic costumes are not required, they are definitely encouraged.  Otherwise, modern evening suits (tuxedoes) and ladies' floor-length evening attire is acceptable.   Don't forget your gloves! Check out our Resources pages if you need help or ideas to find affordable formal wear. The ball is open to everyone age 12 and older. No child care will be provided.  Dance cards will be provided on entry.
